Hello, it’s been a while! Today I want to give an all around update of things, not just of my hair progress but also of what life has served up for me lately. To begin though, let’s get straight to the hair.
Hair Length Update
Last time I posted it was September of 2025. It’s now a year later, September 2026. When I originally measured my hair it was of all kinds of lengths. So I took an average estimate of 2.5 inches long, since some locks were half that length and some were a bit longer. Naturally this is something I need to keep in mind again as I go to take this month’s official measurement.
This time there are two “official” measurements. One is the length of the average lock of hair, from its roots to the ends. The other is of the visual look and appearance of the hair, which will understandably be longer than the individual hairs actually are. In this way, my hair looks like it comes out to be 12 inches long, from the crown of my head to the lowest hanging hair. In reality, each hair strand is anywhere from 9 to 10 inches long at the longest. Again, some are shorter than this either due to the residual effects of the original haircut, or because they are baby hairs newly growing in.
If the measurements are all correct, this would mean an average of 2.5 inches grew over 12 months into an average of 9.5 inches long, which is 7 inches of growth. Hair, on average, grows 0.4-0.5 inches a month and for a grand total of 5 to 6 inches a year. It is not unheard of for naturally slower and faster rates. In general I have observed mine to grow along the average lines (0.5 in a month), so maybe the extra inch has to do with the waves in my hair shrinking or relaxing depending on the relative humidity of the room I’m in (which can be significant sometimes). If I were to chock up the extra inch to either user error (and discarding the inch) or to my lifestyle changes actually working (and keeping it), I still get to near the average. Cool beans.
Sneak-Peaks
As a sneak peak for future posts, several of which have been in the works for a while, I just tried Henna in my hair for the very first time! 😀 So far I’m loving it. I also got a few new brushes to try, started a birdfeeder setup in the backyard (I just moved, still renting), and have been really working hard to prioritize sleep. As a coworker says, sleep is sacred. I concur!
